I went more than once up to the Golan Heights to look for this magnificent endangered bird and when i found it it was such a surreal moment I had to bring it to you.

The Griffon Vulture, is a significant and majestic bird in Israel, holding a place in both its natural and cultural heritage. However, its population in the country is critically endangered due to a number of threats. Once common across Israel, the Griffon Vulture population has plummeted, primarily due to intentional and accidental poisoning, habitat loss, and electrocution from power lines. Despite the challenges, there are ongoing, large-scale conservation efforts, including captive breeding programs, where they aim to release new vultures into the wild to bolster the dwindling population. The vulture plays a vital ecological role as nature's sanitizers, cleaning up carcasses and preventing the spread of disease.
